A look at the culinary competition in Maresme

Summarizing the experience of three exclusive restaurants

The search for the best restaurant in Maresme has led the contestants to visit three emblematic establishments: L’Espigó in Canet de Mar, Bocamar in Premià de Mar and El Timonel in the port of Masnou. Each one offered a unique experience, with tastings that varied in quality and presentation.

L’Espigó: Between criticism and successes

The first restaurant to be evaluated was L’Espigó. Located on the beachfront, it had a warm atmosphere but also received negative comments about its decor. Although the quality of the dishes was appreciated, the judges noted flaws in the execution and cleanliness of the kitchen. The final score of 6 reflected competent service, but the kitchen left doubts with a 4.5.

Bocamar: Modernity and surprises on the menu

Criticism was harsh at Bocamar, where the elegant decor and modern, yet somewhat closed-off atmosphere surprised the contestants. However, a singular incident occurred when a contestant confronted the situation upon discovering that the Russian salad contained egg, raising doubts about her knowledge of the recipe. Despite this, the dishes in general were well received, achieving a final score of 6.5.

El Timonel: Constructive criticism and a divided public

The tour culminated in El Timonel, where the moving expectations were met with a series of complaints about the poor maintenance of the space and the quality of the seafood. The score, also 6.5, highlighted the service as exemplary, but the kitchen was the one that received the harshest criticism.

The finale: Outcome after the vote

The contestants prepared to hear the final evaluations. Marc Ribas, one of the judges, awarded scores that sparked an intense debate. Bocamar took the award with an impressive 9.2, being especially praised for its grilled red shrimp dish. The other restaurants, although worthy, did not manage to reach this level, triggering mixed reactions among the contestants.

Reflections on the gastronomic panorama

The competition not only highlighted the culinary diversity of Maresme, but also the importance of maintaining quality standards and customer service in the sector. Each restaurant, with its strengths and weaknesses, made it clear that gastronomy is both an art and a science, where the diner’s perception plays a crucial role in the final experience.
