by PREMIUM.CAT

Introduction: The Charm of Museums

In the heart of the vibrant city of Manresa, museums are transformed into centers of learning, exploration and discovery during the celebration of International Museum Day. Under the motto “Museums for Education and Research”, these cultural institutions invite visitors to immerse themselves in a world of knowledge, inspiration and connection with the past.

The Baroque Museum: An Epicenter of Activities

The Baroque Museum of Catalonia, recently inaugurated, becomes the epicenter of the celebration. Its cloister becomes a lively meeting place, where visitors can enjoy delicious food or drink while delighting in the beauty of baroque art.

Families and children embark on an interactive adventure with “Abellion in the Museum,” a clue game that encourages curiosity and discovery. Visitors can also join a guided tour of the museum and enjoy tea with experts, delving into the history and meaning of the masterpieces.

As night falls, the cloister is transformed into a musical stage, where the Quartet Brossa performs contemporary melodies with a baroque touch, creating a captivating atmosphere.

Music and Heritage at the Water and Textile Museum

The Water and Textile Museum (MAT) offers a unique musical experience with the “Talk-concert: The Sound of the Word, Papasseit Canta”. Attendees immerse themselves in the poetic world of Joan Papasseit through the interpretations of singer Pere Costa and guitarist Jordi Sàbat.

Discovering the Romanesque Treasure of Manresa

The celebration begins with the presentation of the carving of the Romanesque Christ of the Seu de Manresa, a recently relocated masterpiece. The former curator of the MNAC, Jordi Camps, shares his knowledge of this valuable piece, offering a vision of the city’s rich Romanesque heritage.

Historical Tours through Manresa

The city invites visitors to explore its past through guided tours. “Manresa, Heart of Catalonia” runs through La Seu and Carrer del Balç, revealing the historical importance of these places. “La Séquia Escondida” follows the trail of the irrigation system that shaped the growth of Manresa.

The itinerary “What Do the Stones Say?” takes participants to the sites of churches destroyed during the Civil War, culminating in eMM2, where Jesús Galdón’s exhibition, “What the Stones Say, the Trees Are Silent”, is on display.

Open Doors and Activities for Everyone

All Manresa museums open their doors to the public, offering free entry and a wide range of activities. The MAT presents “Mathematics and Life”, an interactive exhibition that highlights the importance of STEAM. The Valentí Masachs Geology Museum invites visitors to calculate their carbon footprint.

The Santuario de la Cova de Sant Ignasi hosts a concert by the Jove Capella Reial de Catalunya, while the Baroque Museum offers teas with experts. The Casa de la Culla reveals the history of an old farmhouse and the MAT organizes experimentation workshops for the little ones.

Collaboration and Support

This celebration is possible thanks to the collaboration of the Manresa City Council and the city’s museums. Institutions and entities such as the Amics de la Seu, the Fundación Turisme i Fires de Manresa and the Parc de la Séquia also actively participate.

The event has the support of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Barcelona Provincial Council, which underlines the commitment to education, research and the preservation of cultural heritage.
