A Musical Journey: The International Igualada Organs Festival

A celebration of sounds and traditions

Next Sunday, March 2, the city of Igualada will become the center of organ music with the XXXI edition of the International Orgues Festival. This initiative, promoted by the Department of Cultural Promotion of the City Council, promises a unique experience for lovers of classical music.

A prestigious artistic director

Joan Paradell i Solé, a renowned organist who has had the privilege of participating in the liturgical celebrations of the Holy Father in the Basilica of Sant Pere in the Vatican, will be the artistic director of the festival. Their experience and passion for liturgical music will bring a special touch to each concert.

Tribute to an emblematic figure

In this edition, the festival will pay tribute to Lluís Victori i Boladeras, an organist who dedicated his life to the music of the Basilica of Santa Maria and who transferred last year. Its influence lasts through the works that will be performed during the concerts.

A diverse and international programming

The concerts will take place every Sunday in March, until the 30th, in the Basilica of Santa Maria d’Igualada, with free admission for the public. The program includes internationally renowned artists who will offer a varied repertoire.

Inauguration with talents from Europe

The festival will begin with the presentation of Ignace Michiels, the Bruges Cathedral organist, and Hannah Schlubeck, a prominent flutist from Pan Germany. Together, they will perform works by composers such as Albinoni, Bach and Piazzolla.

Artistes Italians on stage

The next Sunday, the festival will be attended by Tommaso Mazzoletti, an Italian organist with a great reputation, who will present a selection of pieces by Bach and other teachers.

Duets that excite

On Sunday, March 16, the public will be able to enjoy the performance of the organists Ana Aguado and Ana Belén, who will perform works by great composers such as Mozart and Tchaikovsky, promising an afternoon full of emotions.

A memorabic closure

The festival will culminate on March 30 with an exceptional concert by José Dorval, organist of the Sacré-Coeur Church in Belgium, accompanied by the chamber choir ‘Musique eternal’. It will be a spectacular closing with works by Pierné and Widor, among others.
