A Musical Journey to the Past: Vilanova del Camí Celebrates the 60s and 70s

Reviving Nostalgia: A Unique Festival

On Friday, November 8, Vilanova del Camí will become the meeting point for those who want to relive the most emblematic moments of the 60s and 70s. The promoter of the event, Josep Maria Costa, known as Xospi, shares that the idea was born in February, with the intention of celebrating an era that marked history with its ideals of equality and solidarity.

A Musical Ode to a Generation

With the name ‘Now all together’, in honor of the famous Beatles song ‘All Together Now’, the festival will host a large number of musicians – approximately 50 – who will perform in different groups during the day. Costa has spent time gathering artist contacts and ensuring that this meeting is a success, stressing that ‘it was a great effort to get all these names and telephone numbers’.

Municipal Support: Key to Success

The Vilanova del Camí Town Council has played a fundamental role in the realization of this festival. Costa appreciates the immediate support of the council, which facilitated the space and expedited the permits in just two days. This collaboration has been essential to guarantee impeccable organization, allowing attendees to live an emotional and well-structured experience.

An Event Full of Memories

The festival will not only bring together Anoia musicians from those golden years, but will also serve as a tribute to the figures who have left an indelible mark. The day will start with music from those years, with Pepe Méndez acting as DJ, who will play iconic songs from five to six in the afternoon. In addition, screenings of historical images will be included to remember artists who are no longer around.

Solidarity as a Central Axis

Entry will be free, but a ‘reverse box office’ system will be applied to cover the costs of the event. Costa emphasizes that the objective is not profitable and that any surplus will be allocated to a local organization dedicated to the elderly, thus reaffirming the social commitment of the event.

Capturing Unforgettable Moments

To immortalize this celebration, a CD and a video will be recorded with the most outstanding moments, thanks to the collaboration of professionals such as Balcells, in charge of audiovisual production. Thus, the impact of this day will last beyond its celebration.

An Emotional End: Singing Together

Costa concludes that the essence of this festival lies in its ability to gather and honor a generation that lived intensely. ‘We want everyone to end up singing at the end’, he says, with the intention of distributing the lyrics of a simple song so that everyone can participate. A symbolic gesture that hopes to make the festival a collective and unforgettable experience.
