Historical Agreement between Commitment and CUP
The City Council of La Seu d’Urgell has gained a significant consensus between the Commitment Group and the CUP, giving a green light to a municipal budget of 26.9 million euros for 2025. This signature, which has taken place in the presence of Mayor Joan Barrera, represents a significant step towards a more inclusive and participatory governing model.
Priorities and objectives of the new budget
In the presentation of the agreement, Barrera expressed his thanks to the CUP for his disposition to collaborate in the construction of a budget that seeks to revitalize the city. The central axes of this proposal include public health, housing support and traffic improvement, with the aim of making the headquarters a more habitable and attractive place.
A living headquarters
The budget for 2025 aspires to transform the headquarters into a dynamic city, economically and socially. This will be achieved through the revitalization of the historic center, with projects such as the restoration of the porches of the main street and a general improvement of urban cleaning.
Key initiatives in the field of housing
One of the highlights of this budget is the commitment to housing. It is planned to build 130 affordable rental flats, a measure that seeks to respond to housing needs for young people and families with little resources. In addition, it is contemplated the acquisition of real estate of the SAREB and the development of houses in the Horta del Valira.
Commitment to the elderly and training
The third pillar of the budget focuses on the construction of a residence for the elderly and a building dedicated to the INEFC, which houses 400 students a year. These infrastructures are a priority to ensure a better future for the older population and to foster education in the territory.
Improvements for Castellciutat and Social Cohesion
The budget also allocates resources to the improvement of Castellciutat, including the new access to the village head. In addition, a special emphasis is placed on social cohesion, with programs aimed at vulnerable families and psychological support for young people, in order to ensure that no one is behind.
A look to the future: sustainability and quality of life
Finally, the budget includes measures to promote energy savings, such as the change of diesel boilers for biomass systems and improvements in street lighting. These actions not only seek to improve the quality of life of citizens, but also reflect a commitment to environmental sustainability.
