A historical concert in a magical setting
The Palau de la Música hosted a memorable event on May 22, 2025, celebrating the millennium of the founding of the Monastery of Montserrat. With a full auditorium, the concert united the past and the present in an atmosphere impregnated with reverence and admiration.
Artists connecting generations
The Escolania de Montserrat, a venerable institution with a rich history, contributed its unmatched talent, while the recently formed Miracle Orchestra demonstrated its musical maturity. This fusion was reinforced by the Montserrat music chapel and three prominent soloists: the soprano Irene Mas, the tenor Ferran Mitjans and the baritone Ferran Albrich.
Music Direction and Performances
The concert was directed by Juan de la Rubia, a renowned organist who witnessed the orchestra in the performance of works by Handel, Bach and Vivaldi, creating a sound balance that captivated the audience.
A visual and musical experience
In an attempt to enrich the concert experience, works by artist Sean Scully were projected on stage. However, the effect of these images was discussed, as the interaction between live music and the projected images failed to achieve the expected synergy.
Reflections on the present and the future
The Escolania shone with its ability to interpret complex works, showing a surprising and love talent. Its adaptability and balance of the group contributed to a satisfactory musical result, although without spectacular moments. On the other hand, the Miracle Orchestra stood out for its quality and effective direction, promising a promising future with concerts scheduled in Bilbao and Seville.
Conclusions about the musical experience
With this concert, the idea that tradition and innovation could be harmoniously coexisted. As the poet Foix said, the attractiveness of the new fuses with the charm of the old man, creating a musical experience that resonates in depth.
