A celebration of gratitude and hope
Next Sunday the 21st, Girona Cathedral will host a special celebration. It will be an occasion to express gratitude and hope as a new path opens for the diocese. This has been expressed by Mn. Lluís Suñer, diocesan administrator of Girona during the two years of his vacancy, in an interview on Ràdio Estel’s Without Distance program.
The episcopal ordination of Friar Octavi Vilà
During this celebration, Friar Octavi Vilà will be ordained as bishop of Girona. The event will take place from five in the afternoon and can be followed live on Ràdio Estel. The ordination will be presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Tarragona, Joan Planellas, and concelebrated by Cardinal Joan Josep Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona, by the Pope’s Nuncio to Spain and Andorra, Bernardito Auza, and by many other pastors, priests and deacons in attendance .

Mr. Lluís Suñer emphasized that the new bishop, fra Octavi Vilà, combines qualities such as spirituality, simplicity and closeness. These characteristics will be very beneficial for the diocese of Girona. A period of transition
After two years of its vacancy, the diocese of Girona puts an end to this transition period. During this time, the diocesan administrator Mn. The profile of Mn. Luis Suñer
Mr. Lluís Suñer, born in 1946 in Fornells de la Selva, has been the vicar general of the diocese during the last years of Bishop Francesc Pardo. With a long career as a priest and collaborator of the diocesan Curia, Mn. Suñer has been an important figure during this transition period.
