Dana’s devastation: a memory that lasts
On October 29, a strong storm ravaged the province of Valencia, leaving for a trace of irreparable destruction and loss. Many municipalities were affected, with families who suffered the loss of material goods and, unfortunately, also lives.
Frederic López: a neighbor with a solidarity vocation
In the face of this calamity, Frederic López, a resident of Banyeres de Mariola, felt the need to act. Without thinking twice, he devoted his days to help in cleaning tasks in the villages of Paiporta, Algemesí and Catarroja. “It was a moral duty,” he said, as he prepared to return to his usual work.
The Panettones initiative: a sweet solution
With the arrival of the Christmas holidays, Frederic conceived an idea that combined his passion for the bakery with the desire to help. Thus, he launched a solidarity panettones campaign on his bakery, ‘Federico, Forn de Pa’, with the intention of allocating the gains to entities that helped those affected by the catastrophe.
An unprecedented community response
His proposal was enthusiastically welcomed by the neighborhood, and production exceeded expectations: 150 panettones in a normal year, they produced more than 600. This effort allowed to collect more than 10,000 euros, which were allocated to various associations and needs.
An impact that transcends borders
In addition to the panettones, Frederic organized a row 0 that raised 2,850 euros from international donations, including contributions from Switzerland. The funds have reached various organizations, including associations of functional diversity and agricultural groups.
Continuing with the solidarity mission
Although Panettones production has been reduced, Frederic maintains its charity mission, keeping revenue for donations, however small they may be. In addition, his family has also contributed, distributing 1,500 bread and sweets to Catarroja, thus helping the neediest.
