A journey full of meaning
The pastoral work of the Deaf of Barcelona, integrated into the Diocesan Secretariat dedicated to people with disabilities, has organized a special trip to Rome. This pilgrimage, scheduled from April 26 to 30, coincides with the acts of the Jubilee and Canonization of Carlo Acutis. Corneli Estafanell Almodovar, a young auditory loss and an active member of pastoral care, shares his vision on this unique experience.
The importance of the Jubilee of Hope
Participating in the retirement of people with disabilities is an unmatched opportunity to connect with the world Catholic community. Estafanell emphasizes that this event not only allows to live a spiritual experience, but also promotes the interaction between people with various capacities and origins. In addition, the canonization of Carlo Acutis, a young man who knew how to combine his faith with new technologies, is an inspiration for younger generations.
Fostering inclusion and understanding
The invitation to accompany people with disabilities on this pilgrimage is a step towards a greater inclusion. Estafanell states that, despite the progress made, there is still much to do in the relationship with this group. Its presence at the event not only allows them to experience an experience of faith, but also provides society with an opportunity to learn about the strength of faith in times of difficulty.
Tl testimon from the carlo acute
On April 27, attendees may witness the canonization of Carlo Acutis. His life reminds us that faith and technology can work in hand. Through social networks, Acutis shared his devotion and caused the gospel message to many. Its story is an example of how, even in the face of illness, happiness and peace can be found through faith.
Reception and accessibility to Rome
The city of Rome has prepared to receive people with disabilities during the Jubilee. The parish of San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini, near the Tiber river, will offer adapted services to guarantee an accessible experience. The intention is that this reception is not limited to the event, it becomes a model of inclusion for the future.
The papal Francesc and the inclusion
One of the most anticipated moments will be the meeting with Pope Francis, who has shown a firm commitment to inclusion. Through symbolic and practical gestures, such as sign language interpretation during Angelus, the Pope works to make visible those who are often marginalized. His vision of an inclusive church seeks to overcome social and structural barriers.
Challenges and opportunities for inclusion
Although significant progress has been made, challenges in creating a truly inclusive environment persist. Estafanell claims that it is crucial to continue working on communication and understanding among all members of the community. Collaboration and mutual learning are essential for moving towards a society that welcomes diversity as an asset.
The vision for the future
With this jubilee, the goal is to create an atmosphere where everyone, regardless of their capabilities, are valued and heard. Inclusion must be a priority, and society must work to eliminate barriers that prevent full participation. Estafanell hopes that this experience will inspire a change that transcends the event, fostering a fairer and more supportive world.
