The magic of castles returns to Tarragona
Tarragona is filled with the noise of crows and timpani, marking the beginning of an event that promises excitement and tradition. Last Sunday, Torredembarra was the scene of a preliminary day with the participation of twelve gangs, anticipating what will be a memorable edition of the Castle Competition, which will take place this weekend at the iconic Tarraco Arena Plaça (TAP) .
High expectations for the competition
With the competition just around the corner, the gangs are working hard in the final rehearsals to perfect their performances. The intensity of the event drives the 42 participating groups to offer an unforgettable show, full of tradition and passion, which will undoubtedly captivate the attention of the audience present.
Internationalization of the Competition: a global event
The Castles Competition has become a symbol of pride for Tarragona and Catalan culture. With a capacity of 11,000 spectators, the TAP is expected to be full of spectators and castellers throughout the weekend. Mayor Rubén Viñuales has emphasized that this edition will have the participation of more than 400 journalists from all over the world, with media from 15 countries, including the United States and Argentina.
Guaranteed accessibility for all
One of the most outstanding initiatives is the APROPA CULTURA program, which will allow 25 people on Saturday and 50 on Sunday to enjoy the show in improved accessibility conditions, ensuring that everyone can live the Castle Competition experience.
Changes in access: the bracelet controversy
The fans and castellers are impatient to access the TAP, but this year there is a novelty that has generated debate: the use of wristbands to access the event. This measure, agreed with the gangs, seeks to improve the identification of those attending, but has sparked controversy among those who have obtained tickets.
Different badges for the public and castellers
A different wristband will be allocated for the public and another for castellers. Attendees will receive their wristband once they have validated their tickets, while castellers wearing their team’s shirts must also show the badge provided by their group.
A commitment to tradition
The mayor of Tarragona, Rubén Viñuales, has stated that the tradition of holding the Contest at the TAP is non-negotiable. Site conditions, including rain cover, are ideal for the event. In addition, on Sunday at noon there will be a show in Plaça de la Font with gangs from several European cities, expanding the scope of the celebration.
A weekend to remember
The Tarraco Arena Plaça will not only be the center of the competition, but will also host a castle fair for all attendees, creating a festive atmosphere that will celebrate the history and culture of castles. Thus, Tarragona is preparing to live a weekend that will go down in history as one of the most significant in the castellar tradition.
