Advancement of the new Social Housing Complex in Reus

Progress in the construction of the complex

The works of the new Social Housing Complex, Public Parking and Municipal Equipment Riera, which was previously known as the Hispania Complex, are moving forward successfully and within the planned deadlines. Currently, the structure of the car park has been completed, and the facilities are expected to begin in September of this year.

State of the works

The car park has reached 61% of its execution, while the ground floor, which will house both the equipment and the accesses to the homes, has reached 42% of its completion. As for the housing structures of the houses, they began to be built in early March and are currently 6% finished.

Financing and management of the work

The City Council of Reus started the works in November 2023, with a total budget of 19,020,254.51 euros. The company Garcia Riera is responsible for the execution of the project, with the management of the car park and the foreign urbanization by Reus Mobilitat and Services, while Redessa is in charge of social housing and municipal equipment.

Subsidies for Protected Housing

The Housing Agency of Catalonia has granted to the City Council of Reus a grant of 2,091,165 euros to finance the housing project with official protection. This aid is part of the recovery plan funded by the European-Need generation EU, focusing on the construction of energy buildings.

Details about the home

The new building will allocate more than 8,100 m² to housing, of which 7,700 m² will be reserved for protected housing. This results in 60 officially protected homes, with a distribution of 48 managed by the City Council and 12 by private management. Social rental homes, ranging from two to three bedrooms, will be built with a sustainability and environmental quality approach.

The future municipal car park

The new car park, which will be part of the municipal network managed by Reus Mobility and Services, will have a capacity of 340 places distributed in three levels. The access will be made through a double lane ramp, and an employment monitoring system with advanced technology has been planned, including the installation of charging points for electric vehicles.

Municipal Equipment in Project

The project contemplates 1,100 m² of space dedicated to facilities, with access from various tracks. The specific use of this space is still being defined, and the work will be prepared for future interior adjustments according to the needs that are determined.

With an approach to energy sustainability and efficiency, this complex seeks not only to improve social housing in Reus, but also to integrate harmoniously into the local community.
