Agents of the Central Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit investigate the case of the masks in the Canary Islands
Agents of the Central Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit (UDEF) of the National Police of Las Palmas and Madrid have carried out an operation at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands. The purpose of the operation is to gather information related to the case of the masks. This action is part of the judicial proceedings that are being carried out to clarify the facts.
Case investigation
UDEF agents are looking for emails, documents and digital files that may be related to the former director of the Canary Health Service (SCS), Conrado Domínguez, and the former director of Economic Resources, Ana María Pérez. These two former managers are under investigation for the mask case, in which 4 million euros were paid for a million masks that were never received. The masks were destroyed after they were found to be counterfeit.

The case of the masks in the Canary Islands has attracted the attention of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, which has taken over the investigation. This decision was taken after the Las Palmas Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office filed a complaint and requested the registration of emails related to the case. Now, the European Prosecutor’s Office is investigating Conrado Domínguez and other people involved in the case, such as the administrator of the RR7 company, Rayco González, and Ana María Pérez.
Right not to declare
Conrado Domínguez, the former director of the SCS, has accepted his right not to testify before the European prosecutor’s office. He argued that he did not have access to all the information in the case. This decision was taken after the European Prosecutor’s Office lifted the secrecy of the actions and asked for the collaboration of several international delegations to clarify the conditions of the operation.

In addition to the case of the masks, the European Prosecutor’s Office is also investigating four contracts of the Canary Health Service as part of the Koldo case. These contracts, with a total amount of 12.3 million euros, are being analyzed to clarify whether European funds were used irregularly. It should be remembered that the National Court is also investigating this case.
