A Strategic Christmas Season
Lorena Zamorano, head of Tourism in Alcoy, has shared the expectations for the Christmas season, which is presented as a key moment for the local tourism sector. With the aim of making the month of December an attractive period, not only during the traditional festivities, several initiatives have been implemented to deseasonalize the offer.
Alcoi City of Christmas: A Growing Brand
The ‘Alcoi City of Christmas’ initiative has become a representative symbol of the city, gaining more and more recognition. According to Zamorano, this campaign has become the second most relevant for tourism in Alcoi, only surpassed by the famous Moors and Christians.
A Diverse Cultural Calendar
In order to prevent visitors from being limited to experiencing only the classic festivals, such as Les Pastoretes, la Burreta and the Cavalcada de Reis, a rich program of activities has been designed. This program is not only aimed at the local population, but also seeks to attract tourists from all over Spain, with the aim of encouraging a prolonged stay in the city.
Activities that enrich the tourist experience
The Christmas Market, guided tours, the Christmas Village, the Nativity Scene exhibitions and Christmas concerts are just some of the proposals that Alcoi offers during this month. Zamorano highlighted the collaboration of local entities, which make this rich cultural agenda possible. ‘Alcoi City of Christmas’ is presented as a platform that joins efforts to enrich the experience of visitors.
The Bethlehem of Tirisiti: A Cultural Emblem
One of the most appreciated elements of the city is, without a doubt, the Tirisiti Nativity Scene. Every year, thousands of people from all over the Valencian Community come to enjoy this spectacle, taking the opportunity to discover the wonders of Alcoy. However, the councilor has expressed her concern for the current situation of several schools that will not be able to participate in the scheduled visits due to the recent crisis.
Reflections and Wishes for the Future
Zamorano commented with some nostalgia that, despite the joy that surrounds Christmas, the Dana tragedy has affected school participation, leaving many children without the opportunity to live this experience. In moments of celebration, it is important to remember those who have been impacted by adversity, and to hope that the coming year will bring more good news and a Christmas full of joy for all.
