A key agreement to move forward
On Thursday, March 27, the City Council of Alcoy held an extraordinary plenary session to approve the municipal budget for 2025. This agreement has been made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Platform Guanya Alcoy, which, despite not voting in favor, decided to abstain in the vote.
Details of the budget presented
The Local Government, composed of the PSOE and Commitment, presented the budget document on December 16, but its approval was delayed by the need to fulfill previous commitments agreed with Alcoy. Recently, the acquisition of a premises for the office of the Alta area has been a determining factor in achieving the abstention of this platform.
Voting results
Finally, during the plenary session, the budget was approved with the support of the PSPV-PSOE and Commitment, while winning Alcoy abstained. The votes against it came from the PP and Vox. This budget provides for income of 74.04 million euros and expenses worth 72.79 million euros, resulting in a surplus of 1.2 million euros.
Prominent projects for the future
Among the most important initiatives included in the budget are the Bio-up project, the creation of the Pinacoteca and the Camilo Sesto Museum, as well as the implantation of a low-emission area. Other projects include the source rehabilitation plan and the Sacred Heart, as well as a tourist sustainability strategy.
Improvements in infrastructure and services
The budget also contemplates investments in vital infrastructures for the city, such as the third phase of the Rhodes Technology Park and the intergenerational building of Sant Mateu. In addition, an accessibility plan, the construction of niches in the cemetery, and the extension of the Alcoy campus of the UPV, are being worked on.
A commitment to the citizenry
The municipal government has also emphasized the improvement of housing and public services, with a plan to create a social shield, promote economic development and innovation, as well as improve the maintenance of the city and rehabilitate homes. In addition, a heading has been included in democratic memory, thus reaffirming its commitment to local history and culture.
