Alfonsín Ensemble in Santa Maria de Lluçà

The Alfonsí Ensemble offered a musical performance in the church of Santa Maria de Lluçà, in an event that captivated the audience with its interpretation of the manuscripts of the “Cantigas de Santa Maria”.

Jota Martínez, an expert in the reconstruction of musical instruments of the time, and Alba Asensi recited and interpreted these manuscripts, giving the public four musical pieces based on legends related to the monastery of Montserrat.

The church of Santa Maria de Lluçà, declared National Heritage in October 2000, provided a historic setting with unbeatable acoustics for this performance.

During the event, Joan Vila, curator of the monastery museum, and her colleague offered a guided tour to explain the architectural, sculptural and pictorial elements that form part of the church of Santa Maria de Lluçà.

This church has a consecration that dates from May 22, 905.

The church of Santa Maria de Lluçà is known for housing one of the best altar frontals of the Catalan Romanesque.

The cloister of the church of Santa Maria de Lluçà is another outstanding element.

From the church of Santa Maria de Lluçà you can enjoy a panoramic view of the castle of Lluçà, which, despite being in ruins, offers an impressive image of the Lluçanès.

The museum of the church of Santa Maria de Lluçà is also a must-see.
