The presentation of the Income is already underway
The period for submitting the income tax return began on April 3, allowing taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations before the Tax Agency. The submission deadline has been set for July 1 in all modalities.
Online submissions have been enabled, and from May 7 you can request assistance by phone. The relevant offices will receive the declaration from June 3, offering several options to taxpayers to fulfill their tax responsibilities.
Salient changes in Income
This year’s Campaign presents new fiscal aspects introduced in the General State Budgets of 2023. One of the important changes is the increase in the reduction of income tax deductions for incomes below 21,000 euros.
In addition, the definition of a large family has been expanded, now including fathers or mothers with 2 or more children. This allows more taxpayers to benefit from tax deductions in their income statement.
In the case of general families, up to 1,200 euros can be deducted if the members are Spanish or legal residents in the country. Special families can opt for a deduction of up to 2,400 euros a year, with an additional 600 euros for each child from the fifth. It is important that all family members file their return to take advantage of these deductions.
Exemptions from the presentation of Income
Although the majority are obliged to present their declaration, there are groups exempt from this obligation. In general terms, those taxpayers with income that comes exclusively from work and does not exceed 22,000 euros per year are not obliged to declare, as long as there is only one payer.
Even so, those who claim a tax refund must submit their declaration, and account payments must be taken into account along with applicable deductions, such as maternity or those related to the large family or the disability
Another novelty of this Income campaign affects the self-employed, since now all of them must submit the declaration, regardless of their income.
