An emotional journey through radio and illness

A theater that reflects realities

Next Sunday, February 23, at 6 pm, the Ateneu Municipal Theater will host ‘Women of Radio’, a play that explores the experiences of three women in the face of adversity. Written by the talented Cristina Clemente and directed by Sergi Belbel, the work promises to be a reflection of human emotions through radio.

Characters and Stories: A Mosaic of Life

On the stage, Àngels Gonyalons, Sara Espígul and Sara Diego bring to life three women with diverse experiences, all of them united by a diagnosis that will change their lives. Rosa, 55, is a radio presenter with an ironic character; Agate, about 40, is a sensitive nurse; And Carol, who has not yet reached 30, is direct and uninhibited. These three women, who seem to have nothing in common, are connected by a lump on the chest that will force them to face reality from different perspectives.

Real experiences that inspires

The work is inspired by the real experiences of women who have suffered breast cancer. Cristina Clemente says: “I talked to eight women of various ages and socioeconomic conditions who have joined through an association. Their strength and the way they share their experiences have deeply struck me. Showing these stories about the stage is essential, because in the dark we can also find beauty and humor. “

A reflection on suffering and humor

Sergi Belbel, in his direction, emphasizes that despite pain, Clemente’s vision allows you to find moments of deep laughter and reflections. “The work realizes what it involves living with this disease, showing women who are both strong and vulnerable,” says.

Set design: a space of symbolism

The staging, designed by Max Glaenzel, is minimalist and symbolic, representing a radio study that becomes a metaphor for the emotional journey that these women have to make after the diagnosis.

Practical information for viewers

Tickets for the show, with prices of 22, 20 and 17 €, are available both online and in the cultural diffusion point of Igualada. In addition, for young people under 25, there is a special offer of € 5 this week. Tickets can be purchased up to an hour before the performance at the theater box office.

A message of hope and connection

With ‘Radio Women’, the Ateneo Municipal Theater not only presents a play, but also offers an opportunity to reflect on shared experiences, the female strength and the way in which humor can emerge even in the most difficult times. .
