A day of preparation before the competition
The world skiing world championships in Trondheim, Norway, have experienced a day off in the competition this Monday. Despite this, Andorran skiers have not missed the opportunity and devoted their day to intense training.
Scheduled races: 10km in classic
This Tuesday, March 4, the competition resumes with the race of the individual 10km in classical mode. Irineu Esteve will compete in the men’s category, while Gina del Rio will do so in the female. The first race will begin at 1pm, followed by the female at 3:30 pm.
Pre -competition training sessions
Yesterday, Esteve and del Rio were dedicated to adjusting their material and staying in shape for today’s tests. Esteve performed a training around the stadium with his team, Team Aker, while from the Rio opted for a quieter session on a different track, accompanied by Xabier del Val, the head of the FAE’s background skiing section.
Looking to the future: the Great Challenge of the 50km
After the races this Tuesday, Andorran skiers will return to the competition on Saturday 8, with Irineu Esteve participating in the 50km Mass Start in Skating. This event promises to be a great challenge.
Expectations of Irineu Esteve
In Esteve’s words, the competition is complicated due to the weather conditions. The rain has currently affected the track, but the skier is confident that the state of the land will improve. “If the track is hard, we will look for less flu skis to get faster, as the race is based on power,” he said.
Strategic preparation for competition
Esteve said that his strategy would depend on the conditions of the court. If the terrain becomes too soft or irregular, they will consider adjusting the skis flu to facilitate the ascents. ‘The key will be to find a balance between speed and control,’ he added.
Objectives of competition
Despite the challenges, Esteve is optimistic about his possibilities. “A top 15 would be a great success and would give us a better feeling to face the skating specialty,” he concluded.
