Antonio Tejado, the former television contributor, has been released without bail after spending three months in pre-trial detention.
The intellectual author of the robbery with violence
Antonio Tejado has been released without bail after three months in provisional prison. The extertulian television personality was pointed out as the intellectual author of the robbery with violence at the house of María del Monte, who ended up being tied up and gagged. The singer is her aunt, who has always helped her in everything she could, a key factor in everything that worsens the Andalusian’s image even more. The Prosecutor’s Office had requested a bail of €100,000 for him and for the Russian Arseny Garibyan, the alleged head of the criminal gang.
Unexpected decision of the judge
However, the judge considers it unnecessary for them to pay it in an unexpected decision that has caused a lot of talk. What he did impose before the trial is the withdrawal of Antonio Tejado’s passport, the prohibition to approach or speak to the victims and the obligation to appear in court twice a month.
Usual precautionary measures
These precautionary measures are the usual ones in cases like this, in fact. Antonio Tejado, for his part, has always defended his innocence and his lawyer asked for his release a couple of months ago because he considered that there was not enough evidence to justify that he should be in preventive detention. Finally, after three months behind bars, he has been proved right.
Prosecutor’s decision
The Diario de Sevilla explains that the Prosecutor has ended up accepting his release because he believes that the circumstances to keep him in prison “have changed”. The investigation of the case is almost finished and they do not want the provisional prison to mean an early fulfillment of the sentence until the trial is held.
Antonio Tejado’s first words after being released without bail
Many media have approached the doors of the court to capture the first image and the first words of Antonio Tejado after his imprisonment. His lawyer has acknowledged in front of the Antena 3 microphone that they are “happy” with the judge’s decision: “It was a moment we had been waiting for for a long time”. Antonio’s mother spoke to a talk show host from Espejo Público, who assured her that she was “crying” and “very happy”.
The protagonist has asked for respect and said that, at the moment, the only thing he wants is to spend time with his family. The first thing he has done, as the cameras have been able to verify, is to meet with his mother and his brother to enjoy a long lunch at a restaurant in the center of Seville.
They say that Antonio does not want to talk to the press and that, in fact, he is quite angry with the way the issue has been handled: “He knows what has been said on the TV sets, who has been by his side and who has taken the opportunity to talk about him in his worst moment”, they say to TardeAR.
This does not include the aunt, of course, who must be devastated now that she sees that the nephew is out of prison after all. How have María del Monte and his wife, Immaculada Casal, reacted to the news? They were able to find out from Telecinco: “They are not happy or angry. The harm that all this has done to them will not be taken back by anyone. They were prepared for this and assume what is happening”.
Now we will have to wait for the trial, in which it will be clarified what exactly happened and what involvement – or not – Antonio Tejado has had in all of it.
