Salvador Illa rejects BBVA’s takeover bid for Banco Sabadell
The candidate of the PSC in the 12M, Salvador Illa, has expressed his rejection of the aggressive public takeover offer (OPA) formulated by BBVA for 100% of Banco Sabadell’s shares. According to Illa, the term ‘hostile’ already indicates that the situation is not moving in the right direction. In an interview with TV3 collected by Europa Press, he stated that this merger does not benefit the clients of the financial system and that it represents an excessive concentration of the financial sector, which does not favor competition, financial inclusion or the creation of jobs .
Appoint a major of the Mossos d’Esquadra in the middle of the electoral process
Salvador Illa has expressed his opposition to appointing a major of the Mossos d’Esquadra during an electoral process, stating that this decision is not positive for any of the parties involved. In relation to the interview with the only two candidates for the post of major of the Catalan police, he has expressed his opinion that it is not appropriate to make this appointment in this context. In addition, he stressed that, in the event of becoming the head of the Government, he intends to appoint the former chief commissioner of the Catalan police, Josep Lluís Trapero, as director general of the Mossos, arguing that security is a relevant area and that considers that setbacks have occurred in this area.
