Arrested in La Jonquera
In an operation by the National Police of the Foreign Affairs Unit in La Jonquera, two French citizens were arrested for transporting 8.5 kilos of drugs and a large machete hidden in a double bottom in the trunk of the car. The confiscated drug has a market value of 57,000 euros and was intended to be sold in France.
Arrest and background
The occupants of the vehicle showed a nervous attitude and a strong odor was perceived emanating from the interior, making the officers suspicious. After the arrest, it was confirmed that one of the detainees had a warrant for admission to prison by a court in Barcelona and has entered the penitentiary center in Puig de les Basses. The other detainee has been released on bail. Both had numerous previous records, including drug trafficking, injury, theft and other crimes.
Other Successes
In addition to this operation, other recent events in the region include the discovery of drugs and a firearm in a vehicle involved in an accident in Vilatenim, as well as the arrest of the father who committed a crime in Bellcaire. The emergency wells in Castelló d’Empúries have also been sabotaged and left unused and three women have been caught in Figueres for shoplifting in supermarkets.
