A Christmas Full of Life in Balsareny

This year, Balsareny has once again experienced Christmas festivities full of activities that have captivated the population. With a calendar full of cultural and sporting events, residents have been able to enjoy a diverse Christmas, designed for all tastes and ages.

Musical and Festive Events

Music and Singing Auditions

Music has been the protagonist, with the Christmas auditions of the Municipal School of Music that took place at the Sindicat on December 18 and 19. The students, excited, showed off their talents before the holidays.

The following day, December 20, the Institut Escola Guillem de Balsareny filled the streets with carols, with performances that culminated in Plaça de la Mel, where teachers and students shared the stage.

Traditional Celebrations

On Saturday, December 21, the Geganters and Grallers of Balsareny organized a parade to commemorate Giants’ Day, accompanied by a gymkhana that involved local businesses and concluded with a Christmas market in the Plaça de Ricard Vinyes.

Christmas Traditions and Special Moments

Arrival of Prince Aswan

On the same day, Prince Aswan made his appearance in Balsareny, distributing royal mailboxes to businesses and collecting letters from children in the large hall of the Union.

Tió’s Cagada and Nativity Scene

On December 24, the little ones enjoyed the traditional Cagada del Tió, while the Parish nativity scene was a reflection of the dedication of volunteers, although it was the victim of vandalism that stole figures and decorative elements.

New Year’s Eve Celebrations and Children’s Activities

New Year’s Eve arrived with a popular dinner at the Casal Cívic and a night out at the Sindicat, with the Tropical Orchestra keeping the party going until the early hours of the morning.

Activities for Everyone

The little ones also had their own space with activities in the Children’s Center and a football Sports Campus. In addition, the show ‘La nena dels pardals’ captivated the audience with its creative proposal.

Reflections on the Future

Despite the difficult times, the community of Balsareny has shown great resilience. The tradition of the nativity scene, which has been a symbol of unity, will continue with the hope that goodwill and education will prevail over uncivil acts.
