A new chapter in Barcelona’s public housing
The city of Barcelona has decided to strengthen its commitment to public housing with an ambitious project that provides for the construction of 2,089 houses in the Prim area, located in the Sant Martí district. The project contemplates a total of 3,360 homes, of which 62% will be destined to increase the public housing park in the city. With the initial approval, the next step is to manage the building plots to accelerate the transformation of the area. Legal procedures are expected to end in the first quarter of 2026, with the beginning of the demolition in 2027 and the start of the works by 2029.
The importance of the Thin sector
The Prim sector, located next to the great transformation of La Sagrera, connects with key industrial areas such as La Verneda. This area has been planned to revitalize the connection between the districts of Sant Andreu and Sant Martí, and includes historical elements such as the Can Riera farmhouse, which will become the nucleus of the new neighborhood.
