The base football season reaches its decisive phase
The grassroots football season is heading into the final stretch with a few championship titles up for grabs. The first teams to lift the trophy are Figueres’ A S12 juvenile, champion of Preferent, and Palau-saverdera’s S11 juvenile, first ranked in Second Division.
Figueres Aleví A S12, champion of Preferent
The Figueres, coached by Raül Agné and Antoni Carrillo, have been very solid during the season in the top fry category, with 26 victories in 26 games. Sant Gregori and Banyoles have not been able to keep up with him. The young players from Palau, led by Julio Chaves and Camilo Nogueira, have also won (17 out of 17) so far. Vilamalla B, Fortià and la Jonquera have been their immediate pursuers.
Palau-saverdera Aleví S11, first ranked in the Second Division
The Palauan players, led by Julio Chaves and Camilo Nogueira, have achieved a great season in the Second Division, with a series of 17 consecutive victories. They have beaten their closest rivals, Vilamalla B, Fortià and la Jonquera, to take first place.
Other categories with titles to be decided
In addition to fry, there are other categories in which several teams are fighting for first place. In youth, Peralada B and Esplais are fighting for first place in the First Division, and Sant Pere Pescador for Second. In cadets, Figueres leads the First Division and, in the Second Division, Peralada B and Figueres C fight for first place in group 7 and L’Escala for group 8. In children, Peralada commands the First Division and, in the Second Division, Juncària is being the most solid of group 12 and Peralada B, Navata B and Bàscara B are playing to be first in the fierce group 13. In S12 juveniles, Figueres B is trying to catch Olot in First Division, while Empuriabrava-Castelló is the leader of Second Division. And, in S11 juveniles, Figueres also wants to dethrone Olot at the head of Preferent and two more unionist teams lead their First Division groups: B in 8th and C in 7th.
