A symposium dedicated to cultural wealth
On the afternoon of July 26, the Joan Fuster Cultural Center in Beniarrés will be the setting for a symposium entitled ‘Beniarrés is heritage’. The aim of this meeting is to discuss and evaluate the initiatives to conserve and promote the locality’s cultural heritage, with a special focus on the Cova de l’Or.
A project with great goals
The event is part of an ambitious initiative that seeks to connect the archaeological site with Beniarrés, thus increasing the tourism potential of the region and promoting sustainable growth at a social and economic level. The Cova de l’Or, located on the southern slope of the Serra del Benicadell, is considered one of the most important Neolithic sites in the Iberian Peninsula. The recent museumization of this space has made it possible to open it to the public, offering guided tours that improve the understanding of its historical importance.
Opinions of the local leader
Francisco Sellés, mayor of the town, has highlighted the relevance of this event for Beniarrés. According to him, ‘it is an exceptional occasion to make known the history and culture of our town’. He also stated that ‘the Cova de l’Or represents an invaluable resource and, with the collaboration between institutions and the participation of the neighbours, it can become a key stop on the cultural route of the Mediterranean’.
Activities and presentations
The program will include several presentations and activities designed to highlight both the educational and tourist aspects of the Cova de l’Or. The aim is to foster a closer connection between residents and their cultural heritage, making the event an essential platform for innovation in heritage tourism. This will contribute to strengthening local identity and boosting the economy of Beniarrés.
Institutional collaborations
The day is organized by Beniarrés Town Council and has the collaboration of the Costa Blanca Provincial Tourism Board, the Alicante Archaeological Museum (MARQ) and the Provincial Council of Alicante. This institutional support is essential to guarantee the success of the event and, consequently, to promote the town’s heritage.
