Beulas: Innovation on wheels in the automotive world

A journey through the story of Beulas

Transforming a vehicle into a mobile hospital, a library, or even a radio studio may seem like an unattainable milestone. However, Beulas, a family business with roots in Arbúcies, Girona, has shown that it is possible. With a trajectory that covers nine decades, the company has manufactured more than 10,000 vehicles and has reached more than 25 countries.

The growth of a family business

Founded in 1934 by Ramon Beulas and Narcís Pujol, the company started with a small team of 12 workers dedicated to the manufacture of wooden bodywork for trucks. The Civil War set an unexpected turn as they began to produce ambulances for the army. Over time, Beulas evolved, adapting to the needs of the market and expanding its production to a current team of 220 professionals.

A promising future

Marc Rorsa, Cap de Sales, emphasizes that the company has increased in the demand for vehicles, which has allowed them to expand their operations. “We are currently experiencing an exceptional moment in the sector,” he says.

Constant innovation in design and production

One of the most important aspects of Beulas is its ability to customize. Each vehicle is a unique project, adapted to the specific needs of customers. The Jewel, Aura, Cygnus, Glory, Mythos and Kala models are examples of the diversity that they offer, with capacities ranging from 16 to 98 places.

Responding to market demand

The pandemic presented a challenge, but the recovery of tourism has led to a significant increase in the demand for coaches. Ridores mentions that there is currently a shortage of manufacturers, which has caused a ‘bottleneck’ in the sector.

Recognition and premises in the sector

Beulas has recently been awarded the National Transport Prize during the Fitur Fair in Madrid, a recognition that emphasizes its innovation and effort. The Beulas Cignus 9.80 model has been recognized as the Midibus of the Year, a vehicle that combines functionality and design.

Commitment to quality

Ridores emphasizes that the midibus, with a capacity for between 28 and 40 passengers, is a vehicle that should not be confused with the minibus, which is smaller. “We are proud of these recognitions, as they reflect the effort and dedication of the whole team of Beulas,” he concludes.

Beyond borders

With a production that is equitably distributed between the Spanish market and the European markets, Beumlas has established itself as a benchmark in the manufacture of coaches. Ridores states that the company has also made raids in countries like Switzerland, Sweden and Portugal, thus expanding its international presence.
