A Recognition of Community Creativity
In a festive atmosphere, Carrer Finlàndia has won the first prize in the decoration competition for the Festa Major in the Sants district, held in 2024. With a design that evokes the essence of the Nordic Christmas markets, this street has become one of the main attractions of the party, as the District of Sants-Montjuïc has communicated through social networks.
Other Outstanding Candidates
The second prize was awarded to Calle Valladolid, which presented a decoration in honor of the seamstresses, while Plaça de la Farga captivated visitors with a spectacular transformation into an Amazonian forest.
The Presence of the Authorities
Councilwoman Raquel Gil was present at the award ceremony, held at the Industrial Spain Park, a moment that brought together residents and participants in a celebration of local creativity.
Various Themes in Decoration
A total of 11 streets and squares have taken part in this edition, each with original themes ranging from the seabed to tributes to Catalan film figures, such as Fructuós Gelabert, and pop culture icons such as Harry Potter.
The Major Festival: An Unforgettable Cultural Experience
The Festa Major de Sants, which began on August 25, has scheduled more than 425 activities, including concerts, musical shows, and popular culture events that will run until September 1.
Unwanted Incidents in the Festive Context
Despite the joy of the celebration, some incidents have marked the festivity, such as the arrest of a woman for allegedly stealing cellphones at a concert. In addition, several commissions have reported thefts of decorative materials, affecting the festive atmosphere.
Complaints from the Neighbors
The residents of the Rambla de Badal have expressed their concern about the noise generated by the attractions installed on the promenade, a decision taken due to the works at the Sants station. Despite the complaints, it is anticipated that these attractions could remain at this location in future editions.
Reflections on the Future of the Festival
With a mixture of joy and challenges, the Festa Major de Sants continues to be a vibrant reflection of the community, and it is likely that in future editions solutions will be sought to improve the experience for both attendees and neighbors.
