A cultural challenge for a vibrant community
Omar Macias, the new Councilor for Culture at the Pallaresos City Council, is at the head of an emblematic project: the Camp de Tarragona Modernist Days. With a fourth edition scheduled for November 8, 9 and 10, Macias reflects on the importance of this event in the cultural life of his community.
The strength of community unity
Macias highlights that the organization of the Conference is a collective effort that mobilizes not only the City Council, but also residents and various local entities. Last year, the event attracted around 6,000 visitors, a figure that reveals the growing interest in this celebration of modernist heritage.
An example of collaboration
The Modernist Days are not just a cultural exhibition; they are an example of social cohesion. The active participation of citizens and institutions has allowed this event to become a benchmark in the visibility of the work of Josep Maria Jujol, one of the great masters of modernism.
Promoting the figure of Jujol
The impact of the Conference has resulted in a growing interest in the figure of Jujol. As the 75th anniversary of his death approaches, several Jujolian municipalities have come together to organize commemorative events that reinforce the importance of his legacy.
A promising future
With the Jornades about to complete five years, Macias has ambitious plans for next year’s edition, with the aim of making this event a fundamental pillar of local culture.
An experience for all
For those who do not know the Days, Macias describes them as a family festival accessible to all ages. With hundreds of participants dressed in period clothing, the old town of the Pallaresos is transformed into a lively scene of markets, exhibitions and various activities.
New proposals for this year
This year, the organizers have planned a series of novelties, including the recreation of a First Communion from 1900, a Modernist Ball, and the possibility to participate in a Modernist Mile. In addition, creative workshops for children and adults will be introduced that will encourage the active participation of the public.
Tradition and innovation go hand in hand
The traditional parades will once again be one of the main attractions, along with performances that have captivated attendees in past editions, such as the modernist pianola and the Red Cross recruitment, offering an authentic look at life in the 1900s.
With a wide range of activities, the Modernist Days of the Pallaresos are presented as a unique opportunity to connect with history and culture in a fun and educational way.
