A meaningful birthday
Last Saturday, the parallel room 62 vibrated with the energy of Catalan rumba, as the Sabor de Gràcia formation celebrated three decades of music and passion. Not only was this event a concert, but also a party that included a new album, an exhibition and a documentary that tells its rich story.
A repertoire that hugs generations
Founded by Sicus Carbonell in 1995, the group has grown and adapted, integrating artists from various corners of Catalonia, with a strong connection with the neighborhoods of Gràcia and Raval. In this concert, they offered a selection of songs ranging from their roots to new creations, seeking to connect with a diverse audience that includes both passionate dancers and spectators who prefer to enjoy the music.
Sicus Carbonell Reflections
In a recent interview, Carbonell shared his vision on the passage of time: ‘Yes, I may have changed physically, but the passion and excitement of music remain intact. The feeling of releasing something new is what moves us. ‘
A multigenerational event
The selection of parallel 62 for this celebration was strategic, as it allowed the different generations of fans to enjoy the show in a way that was comfortable. “We want everyone to feel comfortable, either dancing or simply enjoying the music,” said Carbonell.
Special collaborations and unforgettable moments
During the celebration, attendees enjoyed the presence of leading artists such as Dani Pubill, Lucrecia, and Pep Sala, who contributed their magic to the stage. “These musicians are not just invited, they are friends who share our passion for music,” said Carbonell.
A new album and a revealing documentary
In addition to the show, the group has launched a new album that contains both new songs and renewed versions of classics. ‘At the end of the year, we will present a double record with simple ones that merge Catalan rumba with other styles, such as Cuban music,’ said Carbonell, highlighting the theme ‘Me Gustas’ as an example of its musical innovation.
An exhibition that captures the story
To complete the celebrations, Sabor de Gràcia is working with Enderrock in an exhibition that will show iconic images of his concerts. The documentary that accompanies this commemoration will premiere at the In-Edit festival, and the exhibition will be on display in Barcelona before Christmas, with a tour scheduled throughout the country.
Looking to the future
With three decades of history behind, taste of grace not only looks behind with nostalgia, but also embraces the future with optimism. His music continues to evolve, and his commitment to Catalan rumba is reaffirmed with each note they play.
