Celebration of International Women’s Day in Vilafranca: a tribute to anonymous heroin

A weekend full of meaning

The Xicots de Vilafranca have experienced an exceptional weekend in honor of International Women’s Day. This edition has been marked by the tribute to Montserrat Roca, a prominent figure for his dedication to the L’Espiga Foundation for more than three decades.

Various and festive activities

The celebration began with an intensive rehearsal on Thursday, March 6, which prepared participants for the activities they would follow. On Saturday afternoon, Plaça de la Vila became the scene of a completely female trunk pillar, an emblematic moment that gave way to a vibrant party with live music and animation.

Concerts and festive atmosphere

The day continued with an acoustic concert by Láila, as well as the musical animation by DJ Kötxambrosa, creating a climate of celebration and vindication in front of Cal Noi-Noi, where the community met to share unforgettable moments.

Anonymous heroines: A deserved recognition

Sunday was the turn of the 10th edition of Anonymous Heroines, an event that has become a tradition in Vilafranca. The day began with a sheets stamping workshop, which prepared the land for the tribute to Montserrat Roca. The speeches of Mayor Montse Arroyo, of the President of the Xicots, Gerard Ametllé, and of Roca himself were exciting moments that emphasized their contribution to the community.

An emotional act

Montserrat Roca shared his experience and thanked the mothers of the users of the Foundation, emphasizing the importance of community support in his work.

Women’s castellera performance

After the tribute, the square hosted a spectacular castellera performance with all the castles built by women’s teams. The Xicots de Vilafranca, together with the Castellers de Barcelona, ​​offered a memorable day that included pillars of 4 and several castles with needles.

A day to remember

With a performance that culminated in two farewell pillars, participants celebrated the best Anonymous Heroyan Day in the ten years of event history.

Closure with brotherhood

To conclude this significant weekend, the participating groups met to share a popular paella, fostering an atmosphere of brotherhood and celebration. With renewed energy, the Xicots de Vilafranca are preparing to start a new season enthusiastically, resuming the general rehearsals this Friday, March 14th.
