Celebration of the Escudella of Sant Antoni: Tradition and New Features in Encamp

Another Year of Tradition and Community

The Escudella de Sant Antoni festival returns to the Encamp stage, reaffirming its role as one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the area. This celebration, which has been consolidated over the years, will be held on January 15, starting in Pas de la Casa and continuing in Encamp, where the Plaça de Sant Miquel will become the nucleus of this festive day.

Schedules and Scheduled Activities

The activities will begin at 1 p.m., with the distribution of the escudella (a type of soup) that will continue until the rations are exhausted. Attendees will be able to enjoy this delicious meal in a festive atmosphere, with tables and chairs set up in the square, providing moments of reunion between family and friends.

Els Encants: Charity Auction

The charity food auction, known as els Encants, will continue as usual, starting at 1 p.m. After the blessing by Monsignor Àlex Vargas, the escudella will be distributed at 1:30 p.m., with options suitable for celiacs available in both Pas de la Casa and Encamp.

Innovations in Ration Collection

For the 2025 edition, new features have been introduced in the ration collection system, with the aim of optimizing the experience of attendees. The purchase of tickets will be mandatory, with two options available: a 2 euro ticket for the escudella in recyclable packaging, and another 8 euro that includes a commemorative plate.

Sustainable Materials

In addition, the Municipality of Encamp has decided to provide individual containers made from recycled materials, thus allowing citizens to take their meals home without needing to bring their own containers.

A Commemorative Plate with History

This year’s commemorative plate pays homage to the emblematic Ràdio Andorra building, which currently houses Andorra Turisme and is used for cultural events throughout the year. This choice highlights the importance of local heritage in the celebration of the festival.

Reflections on the Importance of Tradition

The Escudella festival of Sant Antoni is not only a time to enjoy a typical dish, but also symbolizes the unity of the Encamp community. Its continuity over the years shows how traditions can evolve and adapt to modern times, keeping alive the essence of what it means to share and celebrate together.
