A tribute to the heroines of the valley
The Vansa and Tuixent Valley is preparing to host the 25th edition of the Festa de les Trementinaires, an event that commemorates the brave women who, for years, traveled through Catalonia offering natural remedies and knowledge about medicinal herbs. This festival, which began in 2001, has evolved to become a symbol of local culture and the Alt Urgell region.
Diversified activities for all audiences
This year’s program promises a rich variety of activities, with more than thirty proposals ranging from conferences to practical workshops. The inauguration will be on Friday, May 23, with a conference by Santiago Roca Iturralde, who will delve into the historical connections between the inhabitants of the valley and their descendants in Argentina. In addition, you can enjoy a ceramic workshop and a talk on the properties of the floral essences, by Núria Gavaldà.
Natural Explorations and Relives History
On Saturday morning, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the local flora with botanical itineraries in Ossera and La Mola Valley. In addition, there will be a dramatized journey that will transport participants to the time of turpentinaires, culminating in a tasting of handmade products and a performance by the students of the School of the Valley, which will present the Cantata de les Trementinaires.
Workshops and talks in the afternoon
Saturday afternoon will be marked by a tincture workshop at the Center de Flora de Tuixent, led by Suzette Böhringer, and a talk by biologist Daniel Siscart on the Seneci de Cap, an invasive plant that threatens local biodiversity. This activity will take place in the La Vansa Space, where the Trementinaire de Honor Awards and the Arts, Women and Forests Contest will also be presented.
A night of magic and music
The day will continue with a dance workshop directed by the musician Pep Lizandra, followed by one of the most anticipated traditions: the bonfire of aromatic plants. Attendees will enjoy the dance of the Tuixent fire and a repertoire of traditional songs. The Trama Orchestra will close the day with a Ball concert that promises to be unforgettable.
Herbal Fair Remedies and Festive Closing
On Sunday, the Serra del Cadí Square will host the Fira de Herbes Remeieres and Natural Products, with the participation of more than forty artisans. The activities will include guided tours of the Trementinaires Museum, in the Botanical Garden and in the Flora Center, as well as storytelling and the traditional Ball de Llancers de Tuixent. The vermouth-concert with Torb and Moixons del Segre will end a morning full of activities.
An afternoon of fun and culture
To close the party, the popular contest ‘Do you have a good nose will be organized?’, A chocolate in the Hisop, and the closing concert with the Sonsoni, thus ensuring a festive closure and full of fun.
Collaborations and organization
The Feast of the Trementinaires is made possible by the coordination between the Museum of the Trementinaires, the City Councils of Josa and Tuixent, as well as of the Vansa i Fórnols, the County Council of the Alt Urgell, the Natural Park of the Cadí Moixeró and the Learning Center of Tuixent. In addition, it has the support of the Institute for the Development and Promotion of the Alt Pirineu i Aran (IDAPA), the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs and the Diputació de Lleida.
