An inherited situation
This first year of mandate at Tortosa City Council has been marked by several challenges in the maintenance of municipal equipment and public roads. After a situation inherited from the previous government, a very strong lack of adequate maintenance of these spaces has been detected.
Challenges to overcome
The municipal services councilor has had to deal with the problems arising from pharaonic works of the past that did not receive adequate maintenance. This has led to incidents such as leaks in emblematic buildings such as the Llotja, the Market and the Library. Deficiencies have also been detected in the air conditioning systems of these spaces, as well as in other buildings such as the UNED, the Win and the Moreira Space.
Actions to improve
To address these challenges, the Cuidem Tortosa Plan has been launched, which has developed nearly 200 actions to improve green spaces, accessibility and urban maintenance in all the neighborhoods and towns of the city. Some of the highlighted actions include the removal of architectural barriers, the installation of automatic opening doors, the cleaning and cementing of gullies, the installation of protective fences in children’s parks and the improvement of sidewalks and roofs of municipal buildings.
Commitment to the city
The municipal government of Tortosa works constantly to continue to improve every corner of the city. With civility and safety campaigns in public spaces, citizens are called upon to share responsibility in order to guarantee a harmonious coexistence. In addition, a campaign is being promoted to regulate the circulation of scooters and bicycles in the shopping center and pedestrian areas.
In short, the municipal government of Tortosa faces the challenges of municipal maintenance with determination and commitment. With the Cuidem Tortosa plans, various actions are carried out to improve municipal facilities and public roads, with the aim of creating a more beautiful, welcoming and accessible city for all citizens.
