A Musical Tradition That Revives
The Palau de la Música Catalana is reopening its doors to host the Christmas at the Palau cycle, an event that transforms the emblematic modernist space into an epicenter of musical celebration. From December 9 to January 12, the Palau becomes a place where music and the magic of Christmas merge, offering a program that promises to thrill all attendees.
Musical Diversity for All Ages
This year, the Christmas at the Palau cycle includes a total of 10 different concerts, with some performances being repeated, bringing the total to 21 concerts. In addition, two family-friendly options are presented, adding an additional 10 concerts, as well as guided tours for children, ensuring that families can enjoy a complete cultural experience.
Start of the Cycle: Music and Tradition
The cycle will begin on December 9 at the Petit Palau, with a performance by the Cererols Choir, directed by Marc Díaz. This performance offers a reinterpretation of the Completes, a traditional liturgy, with works by Joan Cererols, a prominent 17th-century composer, complemented by Gregorian music and traditional carols.
Salvat Foundation Christmas Concert
On December 12, the Concert Hall will host the Salvat Foundation Christmas Concert, with the presentation of the winners of the Salvat Bach Scholarship 2025. Laurence Cummings will conduct the Bach Collegium Barcelona in a program that includes cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as a work by Handel, offering a musical experience rich in tradition.
A Revival of Musical Heritage
In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the death of Joan Lamote de Grignon, the Palau presents one of his most beloved works, La Nit de Nadal, on December 14. This oratorio combines elements of Catalan popular music with post-Wagnerian influences, promising a concert that will transport the audience to a time of Christmas spirit.
Activities for Families and Children
The Palau is not only dedicated to offering concerts for adults, but has also prepared activities designed for the little ones. From December 14 to 30, sessions of the BaBeBra & Mozart concert will be held, a show that fuses classical music with an accessible format for the whole family.
Guided Tours and Interactive Experiences
In addition, on January 4th and 5th, children will be able to participate in guided tours of the Palau building, followed by art activities that will encourage creativity and learning in a festive atmosphere.
Closing in Great Style
The Christmas cycle at the Palau will culminate with a concert full of Viennese waltzes and polkas, conducted by Isabel Rubio, on December 29, 31 and January 1, 2, 4. This celebration promises to be a spectacular end to a year full of music, with a repertoire that will capture the joy of the moment.
With a varied and attractive offer, the Palau de la Música Catalana is positioned as one of the key places to experience the magic of Christmas through music, a memory that will last in the memory of all attendees.
