A new public safety strategy
Vilafranca Local Police are considering their integration into the 112 emergency system, a measure that could transform the way in which emergency situations are managed in the city. The Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlón, made this revelation during a recent visit to the town, where she explored the current security conditions.
Improvement in the efficiency of emergency services
According to Parlón, integrating the Local Police into 112 would mean a more agile and coordinated response to emergencies, allowing several security forces to receive alerts simultaneously. In this way, the service that comes first will be the closest, thus improving the reaction to critical situations.
Perspectives positives per al 2025
Mayor Francisco Romero expressed his optimism regarding the safety trends for next year, pointing to a decrease in thefts, both at home and in public space. In addition, he referred to the imminent meeting of the Local Security Board, scheduled for March, as a key moment in addressing these issues.
Need to strengthen police officers
Parlón also acknowledged the insufficiency of Mossos d’Esquadra’s cash in the region, announcing plans to increase the number of agents. Despite not specifying specific figures, he said that the Government seeks to reach 25,000 agents in Catalonia by 2030, with a approach to citizen security and local police.
A path to the future
The counselor warned that, in order to see tangible results of the increase in the workforce, a period of two years will be needed. Currently, the Basic Police Area of the Alt Penedès has 103 agents, with a district police station in Sant Sadurní, which has a real workforce of 60 agents.
