The ‘Dialogues of Sant Jordi’ project
The Jaume Fuster, Gabriel García Márquez, Esquerra de l’Eixample – Agustí Centelles and Francesca Bonnemaison libraries offer conversations between writers about their recent publications as part of the ‘Dialogues of Sant Jordi’ project, organized by the Libraries of Barcelona in collaboration with Barcelona City of Literature.
A varied program
The proposals began with the conversation between Sam Abrams and Mircea Cărtărescu at the Jaume Fuster Library, last Monday, April 15. Authors such as Andrea Genovart, Greta García or Anna Ballbona have also been part of the cycle that will continue until Sant Jordi’s Day.
Upcoming conversations
On Friday 19 April at 6.30pm, at the Francesca Bonnemaison Library, Laura Sangrà will moderate the conversation between Roser Vernet and Mar García Puig about Lo mig del món (Club Editor, 2023) and The history of vertebrates (La Magrana, 2023 ). These two authors, who have received City of Barcelona Awards in the Humanities category, will reflect on literature as a political act. On Saturday 20 April at 12.00, a meeting between Sergi Pàmies and Carlota Gurt will take place at the Jaume Fuster Library. David Guzmán will be in charge of guiding the conversation about A les dues seran les tres (Quaderns Crema, 2023) and Biografia del foc (Edicions Proa, 2023), books of stories about the most immediate reality. On Sunday 21 April at 12.00, the Jaume Fuster Library will offer a dialogue moderated by Borja Bagunyà where Hernán Díaz and Jordi Puntí will talk about Fortuna (Editorial Anagrama/Edicions del Periscopi, 2023) and Confeti (Òmnium Cultural/Edicions Proa, 2024), respectively. St George’s Dialogues will leave libraries on Monday 22nd April, as David Walliams will talk to Anna Guitart about the influence of reading and libraries in his life. This event, for which the tickets have been sold out, will take place at 18.00 in the Sala Moragues – El Born Center of Culture and Memory, but you can follow it live through the YouTube channel of the Barcelona City Council. Finally, Joana Marcús will close the program of sessions at the Gabriel García Márquez Library on April 23 at 6.30pm. The writer will reflect on The lights of February (Montena, 2023), the fourth and last book in the Mesos amb tu youth saga.
