A contest with more participation than ever
The 18th edition of the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport Story Contest (TMB) has been a resounding success, with a total of 1,628 works presented, a significant increase of 65% compared to the previous edition. The Jaume Fuster Library, located in the heart of the Gràcia district, was the stage chosen to celebrate the awards ceremony, where emerging talents were recognized in various categories.
Categories that foster the imagination
The competition presented four different categories: free, tuitled, instarelated and school story, all joined by the subway theme and its hundred years of history. The school story section has seen a spectacular growth, with a 300% increase in the age range of 8 to 12 years, and 125% among young people from 13 to 17 years.
A prestigious jury
The jury, chaired by Xavier Flores, CEO of TMB, was made up of professionals from various areas, including experts in communication and literature. Flores emphasized the importance of this initiative as a stimulus for young people and children to explore their literary creativity.
Quality and originality as central axes
The jury evaluated aspects such as narrative quality and originality, ensuring that the stories fit the subject of the centenary of the metro. This attention to detail resulted in a selection of texts that were not only creative, but also reflected the travel experiences of the users.
The winners and the surprises
The winners were recognized in each category with works such as ‘The Silence Under Earth’ by Jaadma, who won in free story, and ‘Espejito, Espejito’ by Alexandru Cohal, winner of the Instarelat. In addition, the students of the schools stood out with stories such as ‘The forgetfulness that devours the world’ by Johns, who won the first prize in the 8 to 12 years.
A Escola that shines
The Igualada Institution was the great winner with 81 stories, while the prize for the most motivating teacher was for Pedro José Fernández, who has shown an exceptional commitment to his class.
Awards that inspire new stories
The winners not only won recognition, but also attractive awards, such as travel to London, Paris and Lisbon, as well as electronic devices and registrations for writing courses. This variety of prizes reflects the aim of the contest to foster writing among young people and adults.
Collaborations that make the contest possible
The competition has been supported by various institutions, including Vueling and the Ateneu Barcelonès Writing School, which have helped to make this event a true festival of literature and creativity.
With this edition, TMB reaffirms its commitment to bring culture and literature to its users, creating a richer and more significant travel experience through the written word.
