Concerns between the municipalities of Baix Ebre and Montsià
A group of municipalities in Terres de l’Ebre, including Deltebre, La Ràpita and L’Aldea, express their concerns about the location of the future reference hospital, projected in the Roquetes de Tortosa Partial Plan. The mayors fear that access to the new center will not be better than the current Hospital Verge de la Cinta, which already has access difficulties.
Meeting to address health concerns
The mayor of the village, Xavier Royo, called this meeting with his counterparts to discuss the concerns that citizens have shared about the healthcare sector. Royo explained that the objective was to clarify doubts about mobility and accessibility to the new hospital.
Access and mobility: a critical issue
Royo stressed that the current location of the new hospital poses the same difficulties as the Hospital Verge de la Cinta. The complexity of traffic in Tortosa, with many urban obstacles and congestion at rush hours, makes access to the new center a central concern for citizens.
Challenges in the urban planning of the new hospital
The land of the Roquetes Partial Plan is under an urban planning process that seeks to approve the construction of the new hospital. However, the Tortosa City Council has expressed the need to have a ‘plan B’ due to possible regulatory obstacles related to flood zones.
Petitions to the Government to improve infrastructure
The mayors have decided to request a meeting with representatives of the Government and the health services to discuss their concerns. In addition to the location of the new hospital, they want to address the need to strengthen the Móra d’Ebre Regional Hospital and improve primary care in the most populated and tourist areas.
Joining forces for better healthcare
Despite initial suspicions about the location of the new hospital, the aim of the meeting is to join efforts between the mayors to ensure that the new facility is accessible and beneficial for the entire population. Royo called for collaboration between the different municipalities to guarantee quality healthcare.
