Developments in the Remodeling Works of the Football Stadium

Progress in the Remodeling of the Stadium

Work on the renovation of Camp Nou continues to progress with the aim of the team returning to the stadium after the Christmas break, having accepted that the initial date, coinciding with FC Barcelona’s 125th anniversary, is no longer feasible. However, the intention to return after the holidays is also threatened by the reduction in the pace of construction, resulting from the withdrawal of the agreement to work at night.

Neighborhood Complaints

The neighbors have managed to modify the nighttime pact, limiting work until 10 p.m., with the condition of not generating noise after 8 p.m. This change occurs after complaints of non-compliance by those responsible for the works, supported by several neighborhood associations.

City Council Response

Barcelona City Council has heeded complaints from residents and has withdrawn the agreement that allowed work to continue until midnight, after finding breaches by those responsible for the works. This decision was taken at a follow-up meeting between FC Barcelona and the Les Corts district.

Impact on Return Date

The reduction in the pace of works makes it unlikely that the return to the remodeled headquarters will take place before 2025, affecting the initial plans for occupying the stadium. Despite this, the possibility of playing League matches at the Spotify Camp Nou after the Christmas break is being considered.

Agreements and Fines

The agreement to work at night was extended monthly, but after repeated non-compliance, the neighbors have decided not to extend it. Although the City Council has not imposed significant fines, neighborhood entities consider that the sanctions do not reflect the magnitude of the infractions.

Restrictions on Working Hours

In addition to the limitation on night hours, it has been agreed to restrict work on Saturdays, allowing it only every 15 days, with specific hours and without causing inconvenience to residents.
