Disarticulation of a criminal band in Esplugues

Arrests in a coordinated police operation

Recently, Mossos d’Esquadra agents have arrested a group of five individuals, including a woman, between the ages of 26 and 48. These arrests took place on March 18 in various locations, including Barcelona, Sant Boi de Llobregat and Cornellà de Llobregat.

A violent robbery triggers investigation

The investigation began after a neighbor from Esplugues de Llobregat reported a violent robbery at his home on December 18, 2024. Seven individuals stormed the victim as he accessed his home, physically assaulting her and tied her, with the aim of forcing her to open her safe.

The details of the assault

During the assault, criminals managed to remove jewelry and cash before fleeing in two vehicles. Home security cameras played a key role in research, allowing researchers to identify the vehicles used in theft.

Recovery of objects and key tests

One of the vehicles involved in the robbery was recovered shortly after the events in Barcelona. Inside, officers found several objects that were recognized by the victim, including a earrings and a manuscript note. The imprints found in these objects facilitated the identification of two of the assailants.

Analysis of communications and arrests

In addition to imprints, the analysis of telephone communications was essential to identify the other members of the criminal group. With this information, agents deployed an operation on March 18 to detain the suspects.

Police operation results

During the operation, the Mossos made several searches at the detainees’ homes, recovering not only cash and jewelry, but also cell phones and other evidence that could be related to other robberies.

A worrying criminal profile

One of the homes revealed the passport of a fifth person, who has also been detained. This person, with an extensive criminal record of 45 arrests, used a false identity to carry out his illegal activities.

Interstitutical collaboration

Police will continue to work within the framework of the Kanpai Plan to address the Multirely Facility, collaborating with the National Police to manage the irregular situation of this person in the country.

Additional discoveries

In one of the searches, agents also found more than 1.8 kilos of marijuana, revealing the extent of the illegal activities of this group.

Near court steps

The detainees were filed with the Esplugues de Llobregat Court of Instruction on March 20, where they will have to respond to the crimes committed, including violent theft and injuries inflicted on the victim.
