A criminal group with wide European scope
An organization of thieves has been disassembled after a thorough investigation that has revealed its criminal activities that covered several European nations. With a focus on single -family homes, criminals managed to remove jewelry, luxury watches and cash, using sophisticated robbery techniques.
Start of Operation: Theft in Igualada
In December, it marked the beginning of a series of robberies that ignited the alarms in Igualada. In a short time interval, three houses were victims of illegal entrances, all with a similar operational pattern. The authors, two men, acted in hours of little light, forcing windows and doors to access the properties.
Operation and flight methods
With methodical precision, thieves stole valuables and quickly fled in a vehicle waiting to them nearby. This pattern was crucial for the investigation that agents started immediately after the incidents.
Research and connections with other robberies
As agents of the Igualada Research Unit deepen in the case, they discovered connections with other robberies in various locations, including Ripollet, Almenar and Torrefarrera. This revelation expanded the scope of the investigation and indicated that the group acted in a coordinated manner through various regions.
Dangers in flight
The thieves used rental vehicles to avoid being identified and demonstrated reckless driving in their escapes. In one incident, one vehicle collided with another during a persecution, leaving a person injured and generating a situation of danger for all the witnesses present.
Detention and discovery of evidence
On March 19, the investigation reached a turning point with the arrest of one of the members of the group at El Prat Airport. Was about to return a rental vehicle that had been used in the robberies. The next day, the authorities made records at the residences of the suspects, discovering a large number of jewelry, cash and documents related to money shipping abroad.
Recovery of goods and upcoming legal actions
Many of the recovered jewelry were recognized by their owners, but a significant part is still unidentified. To date, the investigation has been under summary secret, with the detainee appearing before the Court of Igualada on March 22, while two other members of the network continue in the outstanding arrest warrant.
