Discover the Lakes Train: A unique experience

A Special Journey Begins

Starting on July 20, the Panoramic Lakes Train begins its new summer season. This tourist transport service, operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, runs during the central weeks of summer, traveling along the old and emblematic railway line that connects Lleida with La Pobla de Segur. Passengers have the opportunity to experience a unique journey that allows them to appreciate, in comfort and from the large windows of the carriages, an amazing landscape full of expanses of water.

Nature at Its Best Expression

Travelers will enjoy views that, this season, will be even more spectacular. According to data provided by the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation, as of July 4, the Sant Llorenç, Camarasa, Terradets and Sant Antoni reservoirs have almost 90% of their capacity. This rich diversity of landscapes is the result of a trip that combines not only the Panoramic Train, but also the Historical Train option.

Route Through the Heart of Catalonia

The Lake Train travels between imposing mountains, bridges, tunnels and through the heart of impressive gorges. It is a historical tour that offers a panoramic view of the beautiful Catalan landscape, from the plains to the Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida. Throughout the journey, passengers are amazed by the transformation of the natural environment, a visual experience that can be enjoyed without having to leave the carriage.

Two Travel Options

Travelers can choose between two options to take this exceptional trip: the Historical Train or the Panoramic Train, whose most notable feature is its large windows. The itinerary covers the route along the Segre and Noguera Pallaresa rivers, starting in Lleida and culminating in La Pobla de Segur. During the journey, the regions of Segrià and Noguera are crossed, crossing the mountainous area of Montsec until reaching the heart of Pallars Jussà.

Panoramic Train Amenities

The Scenic Trains, composed of GTW units of the 331 series, offer an outstanding level of comfort and optimal accessibility, including spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility and bicycles, as well as power outlets for passengers. In addition, constant information about stops and other relevant details is provided through public address and intercom systems. The train has 90 seats distributed in two air-conditioned cars and a guide service that tells the rich history of the area and the points of interest along the journey.

Circulation Dates and Other Options

During the 2024 season, the Panoramic Train will carry out four special circulations: on July 20 and 27, as well as on August 3 and 10. On the remaining Saturdays in August, September and October, the Historic Train, featuring original material from the 1950s, will be available for those wishing to explore this iconic route.
