Discovering Conscious Tourism: Alternatives for Easter

Tourism with awareness: a new way of traveling

The dilemma between enjoying tourism and preserving the environment has become a current topic of debate. Anna Veciana, a travel journalist, along with photojournalist Kris Ubach, have shared their prospects on how to travel responsible. With the aim of promoting an ethical holiday, they have proposed a series of destinations ideal for Easter.

Alternatives of travel for a responsible Easter.

The two experts have selected various destinations that promote respectful tourism, each contributing three suggestions that cover Catalonia, Spain and Europe.

Catalonia: Routes that surprise

Anna Veciana invites us to discover Reus, a city rich in modernism and a wine tradition that can be explored through two routes: modernism and vermouth. On the other hand, Kris Ubach encourages us to visit the region of Terra Alta, a little known place that combines nature, history and an amazing gastronomic offer.

Spain: corners to explore

At the state level, Anna recommends the head of Gata, a place full of virgin coves and charming villages. In contrast, Kris highlights the Pyrenees of Navarra, a natural space of valleys and spectacular landscapes, such as the Baztan Valley.

Europe: cultural getaways

In the European context, Anna suggests Algarve, in southern Portugal, famous for her beaches and natural parks, while Kris proposes a train trip to Narbonne and Toulouse, cities that offer a vibrant cultural atmosphere and a special charm.

Reflections on sustainable tourism

Both journalists agree that the term ‘sustainable’ is not appropriate to describe a tourism that respects the environment. Anna emphasizes the importance of ethical tourism, which considers the impact that our decisions may have on the places we visit. She questions the need to travel to massive destinations like Venice, which receives millions of tourists each year.

Kris, on the other hand, emphasizes the importance of adapting to local culture and its traditions. The journalist emphasizes that knowing the gastronomy and customs of a place is essential to enjoy an authentic experience. Both experts encourage traveling with the open mind, discovering less well -known corners and avoiding the most touristy influx.
