Presentation of a unique work
Last Saturday, the iconic Torre Roja de Sant Pere de Vilamajor was the scene of a long -awaited presentation: ‘The hill of Sant Elies’, the last volume of the Quaderns de Vilamajor collection. This initiative, promoted by the Sant Pere de Vilamajor Study Center, focuses on the cultural heritage of this mountainous area.
A collective work of great value
The creation of this publication has been made possible by the collaboration of professionals such as the archeologist Virgínia Cepero, the architect Higini Herrero, and the photographer Enric Planas. Together, they have provided their knowledge and passion for exploring and documenting the historical richness of this region.
The importance of heritage
Mayor Susanna Martori said that this book transcends its physical form, representing a window to the past that invites reflection on the identity of the people. “Heritage must be discovered,” he said, emphasizing the need to connect with local roots and history.
Cultural Heritage in various formats
The first Deputy Mayor, Jésica Pérez, added that heritage is not only limited to buildings, but also includes the cultural legacy and collective memory of the inhabitants. In this sense, the hill of Sant Elies emerges as an emblematic example that tells the history of the community.
Details about the creation of the book
Cepero described the meticulous process of creating the Cultural Heritage Map, which has served as a foundation for publication. He emphasized the importance of citizen participation in the collection of data and the creation of a document that reflects the diversity of local heritage.
Reflections on the hill and its environment
Higini Herrero, an expert in the area, emphasized the importance of the dissemination of heritage, emphasizing that the hill is not only a geographical space, but an element that connects the community with its history. ‘Sant Elies is more than a mountain with a hermitage; It is a symbol of our cultural identity, “he said.
Pictures that speak
Photographer Enric Planas shared his experience during the image capture process, revealing that his work involved an intense mountain tour. The photographs included in the book, together with historical images, offer a rich and varied view of local heritage.
An exhibition that complements the book
The presentation culminated in the opening of an exhibition in Mongia, where you can see about forty photographs of Planas that capture the essence of the landscapes, farmhouses and the hermitage of Sant Elies. Through these images, visitors can explore the diversity and beauty of this place.
A promising future for heritage
The book is not only a unique work, but also opened the door to a series of publications that will explore other aspects of the mountain heritage. The creation of a tetralogy, which will include the plan and the strength, promises to continue to enrich the understanding and appreciation of the heritage of Sant Pere de Vilamajor.
