Electra’s premiere at Free Theater
This Thursday, the Teatre Lliure de Montjuïc is filled with dramaturgy with the presentation of Electra, an innovative work under the direction of Alicia Gorina. This production reinterprets the Greek classics through the voices of Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides, offering a fresh look at the myth of Electra.
An ambitious project: Reverberations IT
Electra is the first show of the Reverberations IT Teatre Lliure program, an initiative that collaborates with the Institut del Teatre and the Diputació de Barcelona. This alliance seeks more than simply submitting works; It aims to explore the relationship between theater and the community, with functions that include performances for schools and tours in various locations.
A new generation of creators
The IT Teatre project, founded by the director Ramon Simó in 2016, allows graduates from the Institut del Teatre to participate in professional assemblies. With Electra, a new stage is marked in which young artists will have the opportunity to show their talent in a rich and diverse theatrical context.
Presentation of the project
In the presentation of the show, Julio Manrique, accompanied by Pau González Val and Marta Galán Sala, emphasized the importance of the Institut del Teatre as a fundamental part of this initiative. Manrique emphasized the need to create a fixed space for the IT Theater, which has traveled through several rooms in recent years.
Artistic Laboratories: a community approach
A highlight of the project is the artistic laboratories that will be implemented in the populations where Electra will be represented. These workshops, led by professionals in the sector, seek to involve the community in the creative process, promoting inclusion and diversity.
Workshops in various towns
From Vilanova i la Geltrú to Premià de Mar, various creators will lead sessions that will connect with local groups, such as students from performing arts schools and social groups, to foster an experience of collective and enriching creation.
A contemporary element
Alicia Gorina has designed a show that combines the three versions of Electra, creating a dialogue between the past and the present. This proposal emphasizes the versatility of the distribution and stage creativity, with a staging that reflects both the roots of traditions and contemporary concerns.
The creation process
Albert Arribas, playwright of the work, has worked closely with the distribution, which has been selected before writing the script, allowing a unique integration of the actors into the creative process. Thus, the performance is not only the show, but also a training and professional experience.
Final reflections on current theater
At a time when Electra tickets have already been exhausted, Manrique has expressed his commitment to continue expanding the opportunities for more audiences to access the performances. The relationship between theater and society is more important than ever, and with initiatives like this, the Teatre Lliure and the Institut del Teatre continue to weave a promising future for the performing arts.
