Elena Nevado and Ignacio Sánchez Amor on the lists for the European elections

Elena Nevado, of the Popular Party (PP), and Ignacio Sánchez Amor, of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), occupy the 20th and 15th positions respectively on the lists of their parties for the European elections to be held on June 9 .

Elena Nevado: an outstanding career

Elena Nevado, currently first secretary of the Extremadura Assembly Board, was mayor of Cáceres from 2011 to 2019 and senator in the 10th legislature that ran between 2011 and 2015. She has a degree in Law and a master’s degree in Business Legal Consulting by the Madrid Business Institute. Additionally, she has received public leadership training in entrepreneurship.

Ignacio Sánchez Amor: a voice in Europe

Ignacio Sánchez Amor, current socialist MEP, repeats on the PSOE list for these elections. He has been Secretary of State for Territorial Policy between 2018 and 2019, and deputy for Badajoz and socialist spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Congress of Deputies between 2011 and 2018. He has a degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and has been spokesperson of the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Assembly of Extremadura.

Objectives and proposals

Elena Nevado will fight for various historical demands, such as improving high-speed rail infrastructure and the Ruta de la Plata train, making modifications to the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy, guaranteeing the continuity of energy activity and reviewing tax figures related to energy, among others. For his part, Ignacio Sánchez Amor will continue working on territorial policy and foreign affairs issues from the European Parliament.
