ERC proposes solutions to prevent school closures

Claiming changes to public education

Given the decision of the Government of the Generalitat to suppress several public educational lines, ERC has decided to act. Republicans have put a clear proposal on the table: to reduce the ratios of students per classroom as a solution to maintain the educational offer.

Political actions to make yourself feel

To make this demand effective, ERC plans to submit questions to Parliament, as well as motions to the County Council and various councils. The aim is to create a territorial alloy that can pressure the Government to reverse its decision.

Statements of the Republican representatives

Pere Sàbat, ERC spokesman, recognizes the complexity of the educational system and the difficulty of implementing changes. However, he argues that facing current challenges involves strengthening schools, not closing educational lines.

Benefits of a reduction of ratios

Marga Bertran, counselor and teacher, emphasizes that a decrease in the ratios of students per class not only benefits teachers, who can better attend to students, but also improve the academic results and quality of the education system in general.

Education as a pillar of society

ERC believes that education is essential for the welfare of society. Training is seen as the basis for building a cohesive community. Republicans have expressed their determination to prevent the closing of school lines and urged the Department of Education to adopt a policy of reducing ratios.

Challenges to overcome

Republicans reject the argument that the decrease in the birth rate justifies the closures. They point out that the education system faces multiple challenges, including dropout, teachers’ working conditions, facilities status and need to expand school hours.

Building a common front

The purpose of ERC is to unite forces with other entities and institutions at the local level to influence the decision of the Government. The intention is that the Government reconsider its measures in educational matters and seeks alternatives that do not involve the closure of school lines.
