A hot and damp February
The month of February has been marked by temperatures that have surpassed the usual averages, with the highest values observed in the Pyrenees. In many cases, the readings have reached 2 to 2.5 degrees above what is considered normal, with Sasseuva, in the Val d’Aran, emphasizing a notable deviation of 2.9 ° C.
Precipitation: a variable pattern
Regarding precipitation, most of Catalonia has experienced a rain regime that can be considered normal or even rainy, except in specific areas of the South and the Lleida plain, where the conditions have been much drier.
Notable regional differences
In particular, the central pre -coastal has received a significant amount of rain, while the southern part of the country has been quite dry. The entry of Atlantic Aires has kept the temperatures in a soft range, favoring a more temperamental climate.
The rainiest moments
February 7 and 8 were outstanding for a disturbance that caused substantial accumulations in the eastern part of Catalonia. Meteorological stations such as those of the Network of Automatic Meteorological Stations (XEMA) recorded impressive figures, with 110.9 mm in Mosqueroles and 110.8 mm in Sant Esteve de Palautordera.
Snowfall in the Pyrenees
The snow was also present, with accumulations that reached 30 cm at the heights of the Pyrenees. Boí station recorded 31 cm, while in Vielha 25 cm were observed, providing a winter air in the region.
Second disturbance and more precipitation
A new disturbance arrived on February 12, with significant records such as the 41.1 mm in El Prat de Llobregat and 34.6 mm in Viladecans. In the Pyrenees, the snow was more modest, with only 5 cm accumulated.
Closing of the month with positive expectations
Between February 22 and 25, there was a last disturbance that brought more rainfall, with Banyoles registering 33.2 mm. The snowfall in the Pyrenees were scarce, with a maximum of 10 cm in Espot.
