Financial Support for People in Prolonged Unemployment

The Public State Employment Service (SEPE) has implemented two special forms of financial aid for individuals who are in long-term unemployment. These non-contributory benefits offer a monthly sum of 480 euros, equivalent to 80% of the Public Income Indicator of Multiple Effects (IPREM), providing significant financial support.

Access Requirements

To be eligible for this support, applicants must meet certain conditions. They must demonstrate registration as a job seeker for a minimum period of 360 days, as well as maintain an active attitude in their job search, collaborating with employment services to find a new job opportunity.

Active Investment Income (RAI)

Active Insertion Income (RAI) represents one of the options available to people over 45 who have exhausted contributory benefits due to unemployment. This aid is designed to facilitate reintegration into the labor market, offering a source of financial support for a period of up to 11 consecutive months. In addition, beneficiaries can enjoy the RAI on three different occasions, as long as they meet the established requirements.

Extraordinary Aid through Atur (SED)

The Extraordinary Unemployment Allowance (SED) is a measure of economic support of last resort for individuals who have exhausted other benefits. This grant is intended for the long-term unemployed and is used as a last resort when other options have been exhausted. However, applicants must meet strict criteria, such as not having previously received this aid and not exceeding 75% of the Interprofessional Minimum Wage (SMI) in income. In addition, the legal retirement age is a determining factor in admission to the SED, as those who have reached this age are not eligible for this benefit.
