A controversial figure since adolescence
Since his youth, Felipe Juan Froilán de Marichalar y Borbón has been one of the most talked about personalities of the Spanish royal family. As the years have passed, instead of subsiding, the controversies and scandals in which he has been involved have not ceased. This situation led his family to make drastic decisions to guarantee his well-being.
Academic challenges and family problems
Froilán always had difficulties in the educational field, presenting numerous problems that tested the patience of his family members. Initially, it was believed that the separation of his parents, Infanta Elena and Jaime de Marichalar, was the main cause of his school problems. This caused him to be enrolled in several boarding schools, although not with the expected results.
Incidents and concerns
As time went by, Froilán found himself involved in a series of conflictive situations. One of the most recent episodes, before his departure to Abu Dhabi, was a fight with a knife in front of a nightclub in Madrid. This fact, followed by her expulsion from an illegal after-party, led Kings Felipe VI and Letizia to take action on the matter, warning Infanta Elena about the behavior of her son.
Intervention of the king emeritus
Faced with these events, King Emeritus Juan Carlos I decided to intervene directly in the future of his grandson, taking him to Abu Dhabi. Since then, Froilán has been residing in an exclusive apartment and working as an intern for an influential oil company.
Physical health concerns
Aside from behavioral problems, Froilán’s health also alarmed his family. A lifestyle marked by nights out, high alcohol consumption and poor diet led him to gain considerable weight. Faced with this situation, Infanta Elena contemplated the possibility of her son going to the Buchinger Wilhelmi Clinic in Marbella, famous for its therapeutic fasting and weight loss programs.
A haven for celebrities
The clinic, frequented by figures such as Isabel Preysler and Tamara Falcó, offers a treatment that combines controlled fasting, physical exercise and various therapies. The Buchinger method consists of a 14-day stay, during which patients consume only broths, juices and infusions for 10 days. This treatment, which varies between 5,000 and 30,000 euros depending on the room chosen, also includes physical activities such as walks on the beach, swimming and sessions in the gym.
Rumors and health improvements
Although it has not been confirmed whether Froilán finally went to the Buchinger Wilhelmi Clinic or not, Infanta Elena has been seen on several occasions entering and leaving the place. This sparked speculation about the health of her son and his own. The truth is that the discipline and structure in her new environment, combined with regular exercise, have had a positive effect. Froilán has lost weight and his general health has shown notable improvement.
